Petäjävesi Old Church tells stories of Finnish peoples' everyday lives, during four different centuries. Built by central Finland’s land-owning peasants in 1763–65, the Old Church features superb carving and has witnessed some of the most profound feelings in life. The mysterious Petäjävesi Old Church was listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1994, as a unique example of traditional Nordic wooden church architecture and log construction. The appearance of the church has remained nearly un-changed.
