Welcome to Ilonka – the dream come true place for animal and nature lovers!

Ilonka is a family farm in Ivalo, Northern Finnish Lapland, and home of not only Lilli, the young entrepreneur who took over one of the oldest Husky farms in the region, but also her furry family members who are well taken care of. Ilonka creates unforgetable experiences and memories for guests of all ages.

Farm Visits – do, be, sense and experience
Torches and campfires wish you warmly welcome to experience the connection with the beautiful huskies and other domestic animals during your farm visit! You will get to know Lilli’s family members and learn about their life on the farm.
The farm visits include a short and easy nature path spiced up with mystics and symbolics. The story-based functional tasks along the path invite you to sense and feel the heritage and connection, do with your hands and body. Farm visits are available for private groups as well as during public opening hours and can be combined with husky activities.

Husky activities and kids’ dog sledding
It’s time we let the children take the reins! Ilonka’s specialities during winter time are the mushing sessions and husky sledding activities for families and children. Both public slots and private bookings are available.

In addition to the kids’ sledding, Ilonka provides all kinds of Husky activities and nature experiences through out the year.

Lilli’s Handicraft Boutique
In the small boutique, you can find unique products hand knitted by Lilli and her grandmother Liisa. Woolen sweaters, socks, mittens and beanies – pieces of art to wear! In addition, you can find other ecological and handmade products.

Savor the moments at Ilonka’s Kota Cafe
After the outdoor activities, it’s lovely to go inside the Lappish hut Kota for a refreshing or warming drink, lunch, dinner or a snack. Sitting by the fire place warms up your body, mind and soul. The soups, pies, cakes and other delicacies are cooked and baked at the farm, as ecologically and locally as possible. You can also book private dinner events at the cozy kota.

Overnight stay at the farm
Do you want to wake up with the huskies and have your morning coffee with them? If yes, staying overnight at the farm in a cabin or tent is your thing!

Location and opening hours
Ilonka farm is located on E75 between Ivalo and Saariselkä. The farm is open throughout the year. The activities as well as the content and tasks of the farm visits vary according to the eight Sami seasons. Please book your activities in advance!

Kids' Mushing / Husky Sledding and Family Fun

Experience Farm Visit and Kids' Husky Sledding 

Where else can children do mushing and drive the dog sleds? At Ilonka children and teenagers take the reigns - the youngest with some assistance from their parents.
The route is short and safe and the ride is done with 1-2 dogs.
What an unforgettable experience!

Please book in advance. You can either book a spot in the slots during public opening hours (entrance tickets for the experience farm visit are needed) or a private activity for your family or group. You are warmly welcome to Ilonka!
