River paddling for two days - Mäntyjoki

Mäntyjoki is a small wilderness river that originates from Musta Mäntyjärvi. The canoeing route goes from Mäntyjärvi to Suomujärvi, a total distance of about 16 km. There are small lakes, ponds and rapids on the way. It is possible to paddling the rapids in or pull a kayak up to the shore, bypassing them altogether.The route is physically demanding because there can be obstacles on the way, including fallen trees over the river and beaver dams. At times equipment might have to be carried through forests. The excursion is carried out only in early summer, when the water level is high enough. We hold the right to alternate the paddling route if the conditions require it.

Kayaking sections of the river, both on the river and on the lake, are also suitable for fishing, the main fish species being perch and pike. Accommodation for both nights is at Musta Mäntyjärvi in ​​tents or, in the case of a small group, in the hut.The basic price includes rides from Joensuu, accommodation in the hut or in your own tents, rentals of kayaks and/or canoes and paddling equipment, plus guide services.You should also bring your own snacks and drinking water. Depending on availability, we will be using sit-on-top kayaks and/or a canoe.Departure from Joensuu on the first day. A chance to visit a grocery store on the way. After arriving, the program includes camping, after which kayaking under the guidance of an instructor or independently in Musta Mäntyjärvi. Those who so wish to can also fish in Musta Mäntyjärvi and Valkea Mäntyjärvi. Self made snacks by the fire.

On the second day, after breakfast, departure for a kayaking trip towards Lake Suomujärvi.In the evening, return to the camp, with the possibility of a tent sauna. Each participant should take care about dressing appropriately for the circumstances.
